Ulusoy Sealines’ Bulk Carriers Get Wärtsilä Engine Upgrade 
Ulusoy Sealines recently entered a contract with Finnish technology giant for Wärtsilä engine upgrade on their bulk carriers - ULUSOY 11 and ULUSOY 12. Wärtsilä's marine department is leveraging a retrofit project to integrate the existing RT-flex main engines with advanced equipment upgrades to optimize performance, fuel economy, and emission control.   The main engines in these two giant vessels have been modified several times since their installation in 2011. The Türkiye-based shipping company aims to enhance operational profiles by incorporating Part Load Optimisation (WPLO), Fuel Actuated Sackless Technology (FAST), and Intelligence Combustion Control (ICC) systems from Wärtsilä into the current onboard machinery. The upgrade is expected to upscale a 5% carbon intensity indicator (CII), equivalent to a two-year extension period for their CII ratings.   According to the estimates by Wärtsilä Corporation, the retrofit will fetch 250 tons of annual savings on fuel costs, which is $150,000 per year.
